Product Description
This Shut the Box game, also called Bakarat or Batten Down the Hatches, is a game of dice for one or more players and an ideal way to sneak in some maths practice for the younger members of the family.
The aim of the game is to close down as many of the flaps as possible in the box. Any numbers remaining uncovered are counted up and the winner is the player with the lowest score.
Throw both dice and close down the flaps that correspond to the number you have thrown. For example, if you throw a 3 and a 6 then you have up to 5 options for closing the flaps depending on which ones are still open e.g. close the 9 or close the 8 and 1 or 6 and 3 etc.
Only one or two numbers can be closed at a time. The player continues rolling the dice until no numbers can be closed.
